Catching Some Z’s

Yesterday marked Levi’s 7 week birthday, and he showed us just how big he’s getting by sleeping all the way through the night.  He took his last bottle right before 11 pm, started snoozing before he even finished it, and slept until right after 6 this morning.  Hopefully, we can keep this schedule.  It’s my favorite so far!

Bouncing and Sliding

A friend of the boys had a birthday party this weekend at a building filled with moon-bounces and obstacle courses.  They played for nearly 2 hours on these things and could have kept going even longer.  Here are a few pics of Aaron and Caleb.  It was hard to find them because they were all scattered everywhere among lots of other friends, so we didn’t catch Jonathan on camera.  They had a grand time and are ready to go back again to play!

Chuck E Cheese

As the school year is coming to an end, all the boys’ parties and field days are approaching.  Yesterday, Caleb’s school celebrated with pizza and games at the all-time fave of all kiddos. . . Chuck E Cheese’s.  I have to hand it to him, too; he’s a lucky little fellow.  At a SpongeBob game, he stuck a coin in that landed right on a small SpongeBob square worth 50 tickets; and at Skee Ball, he rolled a couple of balls right into the 100,000 point circle.  In all, he won 109 tickets with which he purchased some valuable merchandise:  stickers and Fun Dip candy.  So good to be a kid!

Chef Jonathan

Almost 3 years ago, Jonathan brought home a recipe from kindergarten for honey crackers; and he always wants to make them for snack.  So this past weekend, he treated us all to his favorite!  He made some with honey and butter for Caleb and me, and some with honey and peanut butter for himself, Aaron, and Dad.  He’s a pretty good cook and as a bonus, he even cleaned up after himself!  Thanks Jonathan for the yummy snacks!

Busted!

With Spring comes baseball; and with baseball comes playing catch in the yard.  Playing catch in the yard brings busted glass?!?!  Yep, at our house anyway!

This is what happened the other day when Jeff was outside playing catch with the boys.  Caleb wanted to practice catching pop-ups, so he threw a ball up in the air.  Instead of landing in his glove, it landed right smack dab in the middle of the back window of our car.  The last pic shows our new and improved Mitsubishi Galant after a little redneck ingenuity.  It’s so great having precious little boys!

Cardinals Pride

Baseball is getting cranked back up again this year, and boy are we staying busy. We generally have 4-6 ballgames each week so it feels like we live at the ball park, especially this past week. We had a game Monday night, 3 games Tuesday night, practice on Wednesday, and another game Thursday night.
Then Jonathan’s team, the Cardinals, entered a tournament this weekend which was supposed to begin Friday night. That game was rained out and had to be rescheduled for Saturday morning. So early on Saturday morning, we were back at the baseball field, where we waited around for two hours only to hear the fields were too wet to play right then. We had a little break. The games were rescheduled for later that evening.
Saturday night, our 7 year old Cardinals faced the 8 year old Tigers. Our boys played their hardest, but in the end, lost the game. However, they gave the other team a run for their money.
We were back at the park early this morning and played another 8 year old team and ended the game with a victory. A couple of hours later, we won our 3rd game; and we were off to the semi-finals. After a whole afternoon in the sun waiting for our next game, the guys were exhausted. We ended up having to play the Tigers again and couldn’t quite hang with the big dogs, or cats I should say. : ) A few of our players were a little upset, but all of the fans still beamed with pride. We finished 3rd in the tournament out of 6 teams, so we definitely had something to be proud of.
Jeff and I are extremely excited for Jonathan. He has improved greatly and shows potential to be a fantastic ball player; and he is falling in love with America’s past time. He plays catcher and has really taken to this position. This weekend he made several outs at home and even caught a foul pop-up. Plus he can smack the ball. During the tournament, he made it on base every at-bat; and last week, he even hit an in-the-park home run.
Here are a couple of videos of Jonathan playiing catcher.  Every time the ball is hit, he throws off his mask and gets into position at home plate.  In the second video, he catches a throw home and holds a runner on third base.
And this is Jonathan hitting a single to left field and running to first.  Just excuse the goofy sounding fan in the background.  What can I say . . . I get pretty excited!
And here are a few pictures I took this weekend. Not only can he play pretty darn good, but I think he makes a pretty cute little catcher. . . don’t you?

Playland Paradise

When it comes to parks, we’ve been around the block a time or two. The boys love, love, love to be let loose to romp and run and climb and play. Aaron, Caleb, and I went to the grand-daddy of all parks today to attend a birthday party. We could only stay for a short time because we had to get back to Jonathan’s game; but here are a few pictures of the boys playing and singing to the birthday boy, Ethan.

Rise and Shine!

Our Aaron has such a sweet spirit and tender little heart. Five minutes hardly ever pass without him checking in on Levi. He can be found every morning peeking over Levi’s bassinet before Levi wakes up. And this morning, since we weren’t rushing him to get ready for school, he just watched Levi sleep for a long time. So I thought I’d take a picture to remember these precious brotherly love moments. Levi doesn’t realize just how loved and blessed he really is!

Stop and Think

We’ve been working with the boys about how we stop and think before we make a choice to do something. This is a huge work still in major progress. We had to reiterate our point with Caleb twice today. First when he thought it would be a good idea to smear yogurt all over the window in the truck; and second, when he decided to dump out water from a water gun on Aaron’s head. But I think this idea of thinking is finally starting to wear off on the boys. Evidence of this is found in the following conversation I overheard today as the boys were coloring in the playroom. I’m thinking they were about to dump the crayons out of the box, which would have made a big mess.

Caleb: Let me color, too.

Aaron: Wait! Now let’s stop and think about what we’re doing.

Caleb: Will we get in trouble for doing this?

Aaron: Well, we better not.

And their playroom is still neat and tidy!
