“Wii” Party All Night

As a mature 8 year old, Jonathan did not care to have a big birthday party.  Instead, he opted for a sleepover with a few of his closest friends.  Jeff and I took on the challenge and invited 5 boys, in addition to our 3 boys, into our home to celebrate Jonathan’s birthday.  The boys had a blast and loved the idea of staying up until the “Wii” hours of the morning playing the Wii.

To start the party off right, Jeff grilled hot dogs that the boys scarfed down in no time flat.  They all darted back out the door to ride bikes and scooters ’til the sun went down.  Next Jonathan opened up his gifts, and scored a $20 Game Stop gift card, $50 worth of Wal-Mart gift cards, and $10 cash from all his friends.  Time to go shopping!!  He was also extremely proud to unwrap Mario Kart for the Wii from his daddy and me.  And then the fun began . . . and finally ended at 3:00 in the morning when all the boys finally conked out.

Everyone woke up this morning and partook in the traditional birthday pancake breakfast before parents arrived to pick up their sleepy kiddos.  You may think 8 boys and 5 hours of sleep would have driven us completely crazy, but Jonathan’s happiness with his party made it totally worth it.  He kept saying “This was the best birthday party I’ve ever had!  Thank you Mama and Daddy!”

So here are some pics of our brilliant, handsome, precious 8 year old boy, whom we all love so dearly, enjoying the best party of his life.

Nana’s Here!

These are the words we heard yesterday as Nana pulled up in our driveway.  She was able to come watch Aaron and Jonathan’s baseball game last night, play with all the boys for a little while, and visit with Jeff and me this morning before she had to go back home for work.  We enjoyed the short visit, but wish Pepaw could have come with her.  We know he wanted to see Levi again and watch the boys play baseball, but understand he had to work.  Maybe next time!  Thanks for coming Nana!

Awards Day

On the last day of school, Jonathan’s teacher held Awards Day for the class.  She had a unique award for every student in her class, which numbered 27.  For the year, Jonathan was awarded the A-B Honor Roll award.  He missed the overall A Honor Roll by 1 point, but we are still extremely proud of his accomplishments over the year.  His teacher gave him an award for being the Creative Problem-Solver of the class.  She went on about how Jonathan always knew the answers to problems the other students may have gotten stuck on; or if he didn’t know the answer, he would figure it out and find the answer.  As she explained his problem-solving giftedness, I couldn’t help but beam proudly.  I know every parent in that classroom was very proud, but I surely don’t think any were prouder than me.  He never ceases to amaze me!

The following pictures are of Jonathan and his teacher, Ms. Simpson, and his assistant teacher Ms. Adrienne.  Also are pictures of our other two munchkins waiting patiently in the hall (yeah right!).

Home Away from Home

I know it seems baseball is our life and, well . . . it’s true.  We practically live at the ball park.  Most weeks we have games Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; and we’re usually practicing on Wednesday and Saturday.  But if we didn’t have baseball, we’d be cooped up at home; and we really love being out with the kids and meeting other families.  The boys have made so many new friends and have a blast hanging out at the ballpark.  Even Levi stays awake to look at everything going on around him.  These were just a few random pictures I took of Aaron and Levi one day at the ballpark.

Undefeated!

Jonathan’s baseball team is really awesome this year.  They’re undefeated and have won most games by 10 runs or more.  They are knocking the socks off every team they play and last night was no different.

Like Aaron, Jonathan has totally improved in his batting, throwing, and catching.  Last night, I think he impressed everyone with his hitting.  He hit two in-the-park home runs and one single.  He was so excited and so were we!  Here are some more pics of him playing.

Tee Ball

Honestly, I just don’t understand the point in t-ball.  But it is kinda fun to watch.  The kids just don’t understand positions at all, nor the whole idea behind the game of baseball.  They just run for the ball when it is hit, and whoever gets there first ends up being tackled by his own teammates.  But anyway, here are a few pics of Caleb playing t-ball or just standing in the field goofing off.  I guess there’s always next year to learn how to play, when his daddy’s coaching him!

Go Bombers!

Aaron’s little baseball team is really improving, and their games are fun and exciting to watch.  We’ve only won a few games, but they are understanding how to play more and more.  It is awesome to see them go from not catching or hitting the ball at all to learning how to make good plays and hitting the ball past the infield.

Aaron, I think, is the most improved batter on the team.  At the first couple of games, he struck out every time he got up to bat.  Then for the next few games he would get one or two hits and still strike out once or twice.  At last night’s ball game, he got 3 good hits which also counted for RBI’s.  He didn’t strike out at all, and even hit one to the outfield.  We were so extremely proud!  Here are some good pics of him.

Rockin’ Out

Our friends, Austin and Alesha, bought Rock Band for their X-Box a few weeks ago.  We went to visit them Sunday afternoon and were soon addicted to the crazy game.  We’ve been wanting Guitar Hero for the Wii, and we just found out Rock Band is coming out for the Wii next month. . . which got us to thinking. . . this just may be a great birthday present for the boys.  With Guitar Hero, only one player can play at a time.  With Rock Band, up to four players can play.  There’s a guitar, drums, microphone, and even a bass.  So now all we have to do is wait. . . for one month.  Once we get it, we may be cooped up in front of the TV on a virtual rock tour.  All we’ll need is a cool name for our rookie band!

Here are some pics of our drummer and guitarist.

Bowl-a-rama Birthday Bash

One of Aaron’s fellow Kindergarten friends invited the boys to his pirate birthday party at the bowling alley this past weekend.  This was the first time the boys bowled, other than with the Wii remote.  They soon realized that strikes and spares are harder to come by in the real sport of bowling.  Jonathan’s face turned redder and redder on his every turn, for he is extremely competitive and can’t stand to fail.  It didn’t take long for him to finally get the hang of it, and soon he even scored a couple of spares.  Aaron and Caleb, on the other hand, quickly lost interest, and had more fun playing in the arcade.  Levi, of course, wasn’t able to bowl; but stole the spotlight every chance he got!  The boys had fun partying with their friend, Lukas; and really loved the ice cream cake and the pirate loot they brought home as party favors.  We took lots of pictures, so hope you enjoy!
