Jonathan’s team played in another tournament this weekend, but didn’t come out victorious. We lost all four games we played. I’m pretty sure the coaches are planning some tough practices for the next two weeks to get the team better prepared for the tournament in two weekends. I think we’re playing in two more tournaments, and then fall ball will be over. We’re all ready for a little break and are looking forward to just hanging out! Here are some pictures of this weekend’s tournament.

Jag Day
September 22, 2008 · Filed under Family Activities, Kacey's Stories
This weekend was a busy one! Jonathan had a baseball tournament, which will be a future post, and the boys’ school held its annual Jag Day. Jag Day is a carnival put on by the high school band to raise funds for the schools. The boys had a blast jumping in moon-bounces, playing on inflatable obstacle courses, and sliding down the big slides. They also tried their hands, and feet, at rock-climbing. Jonathan was able to make it halfway up the wall, but Aaron and Caleb had a harder time.
It was fun to get out and do something other than baseball for a while! Jeff and I had fun hanging out with our kiddos, and watching them laugh and play and be boys. It seems sometimes we’re so busy that we forget to take the time to just enjoy our boys. These are the pictures we took . . . Enjoy!
Corny Day

Aaron’s story for the week was “All About Corn.” They finished up the unit with a corn party, where they tasted all types of different foods made from corn. As room mom, I was invited to come help and take pictures. Aaron and his friend (whose mom also attended) read the story aloud to show off their reading skills! We’re so blessed that the boys attend such an incredible school where parents are always welcomed!
Take Off!

This week Levi has become more and more mobile. He’s been rolling back and forth across the carpet, as I’ve said before; and now he’s getting ready to move forward and backward. He’s beginning to pull his knees up under him, but he can’t quite figure out what to do from there. He falls back down and sticks his arms and legs up in the air. The boys think it’s funny and calls him an “airplane.” It won’t be long before he’s ready for lift-off!
Wiggleworm and Bookworm

I finally had to retire the ol’ playmat, and replaced it with a slightly larger blanket for Levi’s playing area. Even the blanket doesn’t contain his little booty! He rolls all over the living room, smiling and laughing as he makes his way around.
Today, I walked in our living room to find one of the sweetest sights I’ve ever seen. Aaron and Levi were laying side by side; and Aaron was reading Fox in Socks aloud to his baby brother. Levi loves to be read to, and Aaron loves discovering books he can read all by himself. So together, they were enjoying the story!
Of course, I ran to grab the camera. I couldn’t miss this opportunity for the world!
The “Right” Brothers
September 12, 2008 · Filed under Aaron, Caleb, Conversations, Kacey's Stories
The teachers and faculty of the boys’ school has determined that the school theme this year is “United We Stand.” Every week, each grade level learns about a particular topic, person, or event in American history. This afternoon, when Jeff picked them up from school, they were excitedly telling about their day as they always do. However, today’s conversation was extra funny according to Jeff. It went something like this:
Aaron: We’ve been learning about the Wright brothers! They invented the first airplane.
Caleb: Why are they called the “right” brothers?
Aaron: (After thinking a little bit) I guess because they’re always right!?!?
Of course, Jeff went on to explain further; but he really got a kick out of their thought process. They are so funny!
BTW, the picture above is not a recent one. I just thought it was a cute one of Aaron and Caleb to help demonstrate how silly they can be!
Happy 1/2 Birthday!

Levi turns 1/2 a year today! Here are some 6 month pictures we took. He got tired of all the hoopla, so I just had to take what I could get! He’s developing his own little personality, and he may be a little rotten; but he can melt my heart with just one smile across his face. This month, he cut his bottom teeth and is still experimenting with sounds he can make. He stretches his feet up to his mouth and sucks on his little piggies. Levi loves to play with and chew on his toys while he sits up and watches everything going on around him. He rolls all over the living room now, and is starting to pull his knees in like he’s ready to start scooting across the floor. It won’t be long, and we won’t be able to contain the little man!
Happy 1/2 Birthday, my dear sweet baby! I’m so proud of you, and I’m sooo happy to be your “Mamamamama”! You’ve been a huge joy to me, your daddy, and your big brothers. We love you and your little grins very much, and can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will hold for you.
Snaggletooth

It’s so fun to watch the excitement of the boys as they lose their teeth, and then check under their pillow to find a surprise from the tooth fairy. Aaron just lost his 3rd and 4th teeth, which both happened to be his top two front teeth. He’s so cute when he flashes us a toothless grin!
We are also celebrat
ing the arrival of Levi’s first two teeth! They just started coming in two days ago, so the days of his toothless smiles are coming to an end. Yep, that’s right, he’s growing up right before my eyes; and there’s nothing I can do to stop him. Sad, but true. I love him so much, and I guess I just gotta let him grow to be a big boy!
Fall Ball

This fall, we are excited that Jonathan is playing baseball for the Senatobia Spartans. He is so happy to continue playing, and Jeff and I are glad about the experience of playing competitively. This is a great opportunity for him!
We had our first tournament this past weekend, where we played many teams who’ve been playing together longer than our team. Some teams have been together for 2 years, and most have been playing in tournaments for a month. Saturday was full with three games on the schedule for our team. In our first game, the Spartans played hard, but lost by 3 points. We didn’t do so well our second game and lost by a lot. But our third game went much better and we almost shut out our opponent. Since we lost 2 games, our team was put into the consolation championship bracket.
On Sunday, our kids showed up to play ball! We won our first game by a lot, which put us in the consolation championship game against the Cardinals team, coached by Jonathan’s recreation and All-Star coaches. It was fun to see many of Jonathan’s friends from our previous teams. The game began with a pretty tight score; but by the 5th inning, the game ended with the Spartans celebrating the victory! Our first tournament to play together, we won the Consolation Championship. Our boys were so excited to receive their trophies!
We’ll be playing again next weekend so check back later for more baseball news!
