Jonathan’s Cardinals team went totally undefeated, ending the season with a 12-0 record. Way to go, guys! Their team was also honored at a ceremony where all the town’s first place teams received nice trophies. All of this happened early June but I thought I’d share the pictures anyway. They show the trophy ceremony and the final team huddle. Better late than never, right!!??

Baseball is getting cranked back up again this year, and boy are we staying busy. We generally have 4-6 ballgames each week so it feels like we live at the ball park, especially this past week. We had a game Monday night, 3 games Tuesday night, practice on Wednesday, and another game Thursday night.
Then Jonathan’s team, the Cardinals, entered a tournament this weekend which was supposed to begin Friday night. That game was rained out and had to be rescheduled for Saturday morning. So early on Saturday morning, we were back at the baseball field, where we waited around for two hours only to hear the fields were too wet to play right then. We had a little break. The games were rescheduled for later that evening.
Saturday night, our 7 year old Cardinals faced the 8 year old Tigers. Our boys played their hardest, but in the end, lost the game. However, they gave the other team a run for their money.
We were back at the park early this morning and played another 8 year old team and ended the game with a victory. A couple of hours later, we won our 3rd game; and we were off to the semi-finals. After a whole afternoon in the sun waiting for our next game, the guys were exhausted. We ended up having to play the Tigers again and couldn’t quite hang with the big dogs, or cats I should say. : ) A few of our players were a little upset, but all of the fans still beamed with pride. We finished 3rd in the tournament out of 6 teams, so we definitely had something to be proud of.
Jeff and I are extremely excited for Jonathan. He has improved greatly and shows potential to be a fantastic ball player; and he is falling in love with America’s past time. He plays catcher and has really taken to this position. This weekend he made several outs at home and even caught a foul pop-up. Plus he can smack the ball. During the tournament, he made it on base every at-bat; and last week, he even hit an in-the-park home run.
Here are a couple of videos of Jonathan playiing catcher. Every time the ball is hit, he throws off his mask and gets into position at home plate. In the second video, he catches a throw home and holds a runner on third base.
And this is Jonathan hitting a single to left field and running to first. Just excuse the goofy sounding fan in the background. What can I say . . . I get pretty excited!
And here are a few pictures I took this weekend. Not only can he play pretty darn good, but I think he makes a pretty cute little catcher. . . don’t you?
