Hollywood

At the end of February, Jeff and I took a trip to Los Angeles, CA, for a CMA church planting conference.  Along with us came Alesha and Austin, and Austin’s parents, Roger and Sheila.  The conference was very insightful, offering much encouragement and motivation for us to keep allowing God to use us in our communities here in the Memphis metro area to reach out to others and grow His kingdom.

After the conference, we stayed a few extra days to tour Hollywood.  We walked on Long Beach and Huntington Beach and watched the surfers, visited Universal Studios Hollywood, took a Hollywood Homes tour in Beverly Hills and Belair, and a double-decker bus tour of Beverly Hills and LA.  We walked down Rodeo Drive and “shopped” in the Gucci store.  We drove down Sunset strip and saw where the celebrities hang out.  The highlight of the trip was the Warner Brothers Studio tour.  This is where many of our favorite shows are taped, including “Chuck,” “E.R.,” “Ghost Whisperer,” “The Mentalist,” and “Friends.”  We also saw “Central Perk,” where the “Friends” gang always hung out.

We had a blast, but were ready to come home.  Everything we saw made us think of the boys.  They would have loved to have rode the Universal Studios rides, and would have been so excited to have seen SpongeBob and Scooby Doo.  Also, at the Warner Brothers Studio, they would have been amazed to see the real Batmobiles, the Harry Potter car, the Speed Racer car, and the Mystery Machine.  It was driving us crazy that they weren’t with us, and I think they were missing us too.  Needless to say, we were glad to come back home.

Hope you enjoy the pics we took!

Springtime?!

A few weeks ago, we had beautiful weather, the kind where you can’t help but spend the day outside.  So we all decided we needed to go to the park.  We loaded up the stroller with Levi, his stuff, a frisbee, and a football; and walked and rode scooters and bicycles in a caravan to the park to play.  We had the whole gang in tow, including Aunt Dana, Ma, and Pa, and even a few of the neighborhood kids.  The kids played, Levi swung, and we even got a few games of football and frisbee going with other park-goers.

Enjoy the pics!

3-D Superbowl

For the Superbowl, we invited some neighbors down and grilled hamburgers and chicken wings.  We watched the big game, and put on our 3-D glasses to watch the commercials.  It was lots of fun hanging out with our neighbors and getting to know our new friends.  Although the game didn’t end the way we were hoping, it turned out to be a good one to watch.  Here are a couple of pictures of us sporting the cool specs.

Family, Friends, & Fun

Last month, we got tired of the weather keeping us cooped up in the house; so we planned a day trip to Memphis with our friends, Austin, Alesha, and Bailey.  We ate and played at Incredible Pizza, which is like “Chuck E. Cheese on steroids” to put it in Austin’s words.  After playing and picking out a few cheap little prizes, we took Bailey and the boys to Build-a-Bear Workshop to spend their gift cards.  Since Jonathan had previously built his own dog, he just picked out a new Cardinals baseball uniform for “Dipster”, complete with cute little red cleats.  Aaron built a bear named “Bub” and dressed him like Batman, while Caleb built a tiger named “Mike the LSU Tiger” and dressed him like Spiderman.  Bailey wanted a pink monkey, and named her “Giselle” after the princess from “Enchanted.”  Exhausted and thirsty, we completed our busy day at Sonic and then headed home.  We all had a great time spending the day together.  We hope you enjoy the pictures!

Ice Cream Parlor

While visiting family, we decided to also pay a visit to the new ice cream shop in town, Skipper’s.  It was a really cute place fixed up with vintage arcade games, and original ice cream parlor counter and booths.  The boys gobbled up their Blue Bell ice cream and then went on to some fresh-roasted peanuts.  We also enjoyed visiting Mammaw Mary and my best gal pal, Becky.

Bowl-a-rama Birthday Bash

One of Aaron’s fellow Kindergarten friends invited the boys to his pirate birthday party at the bowling alley this past weekend.  This was the first time the boys bowled, other than with the Wii remote.  They soon realized that strikes and spares are harder to come by in the real sport of bowling.  Jonathan’s face turned redder and redder on his every turn, for he is extremely competitive and can’t stand to fail.  It didn’t take long for him to finally get the hang of it, and soon he even scored a couple of spares.  Aaron and Caleb, on the other hand, quickly lost interest, and had more fun playing in the arcade.  Levi, of course, wasn’t able to bowl; but stole the spotlight every chance he got!  The boys had fun partying with their friend, Lukas; and really loved the ice cream cake and the pirate loot they brought home as party favors.  We took lots of pictures, so hope you enjoy!
