Camping Adventure

A few weeks ago, the Rhodes Clan loaded up and headed to the mountains of the Arkansas River Valley. We had a blast. We thought you might enjoy some pics from our weekend of extreme adventure!

As you can clearly see, we looked like the Beverly Hillbillies!
Setting up camp was a blast! I, of course, had the best helpers ever!
Here we are practicing our rock climbing skills! We had some cliff hanging good times here!

We saw some great scenery! This is why Arkansas is the “Natural State”!

Here we see Caleb getting in trouble for getting too close to the Hang-glider launch site. I still don’t think he is fully aware of the danger. What can I say, he gets his hard-headedness naturally!
Pa and the boys playing in a cool cave!
No camping trip would be right with out the sweetness of S’mores! We made some of the best ever on this trip! Thanx Ma for the help!
Here are some random pics of the boys’ exploits around the camp site.
Of course, the most important part of any camping excursion is the camp fire. I am certainly glad I had good help in gathering and chopping the fire wood!
Our favorite meal when camping is breakfast. We spare no effort in rolling out the good stuff!

Finally, time to relax with an ice cold drink and good poking stick!

We can’t wait to hit the camping trail again! These boys love a great adventure. However, we did come back with a strong bout of poison ivy! Oh well, I guess the good times are worth the funky itch.
Thanx!

Biggest Loser Update #7

Hey everyone! I don’t post very often on here, but Kacey is busy so I decided to update you guys on our weight loss endeavors. :) We missed last week’s update, because we were crazy busy, and we actually both gained a pound. Our trainer said it was because we probably put on more muscle mass. As much as I would like to claim that theory, I have to rat us out. We ate horribly! So we paid for it with a pound. But we seemed to have bounced back rather nicely this week.

Jeff
This week: 5 pounds
Total: 28 pounds

Kacey
This week: 4 pounds
Total: 17 pounds

We are feeling great! Thanx for reading the blog and keeping up with our insane lives! BTW, next week is the last week of soccer and the first week of baseball and T-ball games. We are definitely looking forward to the end of soccer, although we have had a great time. Hopefully we will have some great pics very soon. Stay tuned!

Thanx!

Thin Ice!

Like most parts of the country, it got cold here last week. In fact, it was cold enough to cover most of the pond behind our apartment with ice. This pond is the main reason we decided to move into these apartments. We love looking at the fish and feeding the ducks right out our back door; however, the ice presented a new challenge.

The first thing that flew out of Jonathan’s mouth that morning was “ice-skating!” Not good. I explained in detail the dangers of stepping out on the ice. Don’t do it! Wouldn’t you know that he just had to try. You can see him in the picture wearing the black coat getting as close as possible. Then, without any warning, I looked up to find him walking out on it! Needless to say, my reaction matched my fear. He got off quickly.

He didn’t think it was any big deal, though. He said, “Look, I didn’t fall in.” Well, I got the bright idea to show him how thin it really was. I eased over to the edge so I could break the ice with my foot. To my surprise, I realized it was quite thick. I began pounding on it with my foot. Suddenly, I broke through. To my great dismay, and the glorious pleasure of my boys, my momentum kept going and my foot plunged beneath the icy surface of the pond. Yep, it was cold! I yelled, they laughed. Hum, maybe it was a lesson I needed to learn.

Thanx!

This Was A First!

Last Saturday we were invited to go skating with some of our new friends Wendy Grissom and her son, Tyler. We met Wendy a few months ago; and she and Tyler starting coming to our small group. Since then, we have all become great friends. As you can see below, we had a great time!

We ate pizza, skated, played arcade games, and won great prizes! One thing I can say for sure, these guys learned to fall with style!

BTW, if you were wondering, Kacey did skate, as you can see; but I opted to be the photographer.

Thanx!
